This post will most likely be a lot shorter than the over 4000 word behemoth that I wrote on who would be the last Cylon. Now having said let us delve right into why I think the Viper Mark II may be a Cylon. First let us start with Admiral Adama’s flashbacks. In the “Razor” Adama gets hit by a Cylon in mid flight, ejects, and the Viper Mark II is left to its own devices. Whether the Viper Mark II explodes or it just crash lands on the planet the thing should be toast. We have to assume that Adama is flying at an extremely high speed in the Viper in the show because I doubt very seriously he is flying as slow as a 747 airliner. If he is flying at an extreme rate of speed and the Viper crashes on the planet then you can bet it probably did not survive intact. The Viper should be destroyed right? Well in the mini-series Chief Tyrol (who is a Cylon) finds the ship in a rusted condition, not destroyed condition and he restores the ship for Adama. My thesis is that the ship has resurrected somehow but is left on that planet only to be discovered 40 years later.
Moving on to when Starbuck is flying the Viper Mark II on that planet we see both of them destroyed. The Viper Mark II and Starbuck are mysteriously returned to the Galactica without any explanation. Since a lot of folks are saying that the “ship of light” may return in the series it is quite plausible that Starbuck and the Viper Mark II were resurrected. Or Starbuck was plucked out of the Viper Mark II right at the last minute by the “ship of light” right before the Viper explodes. Then the Viper Mark II is again resurrected in pristine condition without a scratch on it and no data in its computers. Remember when she comes back to Galactica the Viper Mark II is like “brand new” while Starbuck does not remember a darn thing except for three stars, a comet and gas giant.
Then we have to remember in one of the episodes Boomer wonders if the last five Cylons looked like the other seven. I know this may all be contrary to what I wrote about Anastasia Dualla being the last Cylon. In my opinion in may be something that is worth exploring a little further.
Just food for thought and probably way off base!
I promise this is the last post on Battlestar Galactica!!

First! Do not make this your last post about Galactica. I felt your theories on the final cylon are very insightful. It would explain why Dee hasn’t been featured as much lately. She’s like totally out of the picture recently and that gets my so mad! Anyhoo, with all the theories running around I think we’ll all be suprised. I can’t wait and keep up the good work.

Why I think you’re wrong:
This is inferred from listening to Ron Moore’s podcast of episode 2. Now, he doesn’t directly refute you’re idea, but it’s something to consider.
An initial idea for the episode had Adama actually flying around in the Kara’s brand new viper. He was angry and confused about Kara, thought maybe flying the mysterious ship might help. He gets to some point where he decides he should trust her. Moore and the writers decided against this idea because people might think that the ship had some kind of mysterious influence over Adama to get him to trust Kara.
A second point which was considered and dropped was Tyrol finding some rune type markings under the ship. Moore said it was an interesting idea that added some mystery, but they decided to drop it because they would later have to explain it, and they didn’t want that story tangent.
I think that Moore didn’t want any ambiguity nor more mystery to what the ship is.

Do you not think that Bill Adama got a new ship when got off that planet or do you think that that crash marked the last day he ever flew?
Think about it.

Personally I think Adama got a new ship because there is no way that the Viper Mark II survived intact!
