Well I am all better since I had my biopsy on liver. Although I am still waiting to get my results back from the doctor I do think the results will be just fine. Lately I have been pretty busy around the house fixing computers, Nintendo DS’s and birthday parties. First my son’s computer is shutting itself down every 15 minutes. Replaced every cable possible and it still does it so I am assuming that it is either the power supply or the outlet itself. As of right now I have it plugged into another outlet to see if the old outlet is the problem.
Then there was my computer, I had a dual monitor setup with mine which is pretty nice. However, the machine started locking up all the time. I installed an application that monitored the temperature of the card and it was sitting at 53 degrees Celsius. So I now know that my computer was not getting cooled enough to handle the dual monitor setup. I guess I could have bought another fan to make it cooler in there but I decided to take the “easy” route and just uninstall the drivers and the card itself. So now I am back to one monitor on this machine until I get another video card that can handle what I want to do with my machine. Here is the funny thing though when I uninstalled the video card problems happened that I personally did not ever expect. I am not kidding you when I tell you that my computer could not find the boot manager after the video card uninstall. This has never happened to me in all my years of computing so I was totally dumbfounded by this. My savings grace is that I always save my data on a second hard drive. Basically all of my data was on a second hard drive so I did not lose anything. I did lose a lot of sleep though because I had to reinstall the following on my machine; Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate upgrade, Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, Microsoft Office 2007, Microsoft SQL Server 2005, AVG Virus Protection, Spybot S&D, CCleaner, VLC Media Player, Adobe Acrobat Reader, a whole bunch of drivers and about a thousand updates. The updates are running in the background as we speak so I am still not done with this machine. All in all I am pretty sure that 24 hours has been invested into this reworking of this computer. One thing is that I have the space because between the two hard drives in my machine I have 1 terabyte of data to use.
Now after I build my machine I have to go and build my step-daughters machine. This is going to be a simple task because I only need to install Microsoft Windows XP, AVG, and Spybot S&D. She only uses it for the internet anyway. So it should not be too hard to do. My computer is complicated because I use it for the internet, blogging, college work, picture manipulation, playing video games, etc. She is only nine years old so her computer is going to be a walk in the park due to her lack of using it for anything else then American Girl website.
Then there is the old computer that I have that the motherboard fried on it. I have another ATX motherboard and I am going to try to get it up and running again just so I can surf the net on my 50″ HDTV in my living room. Also with this computer I will fun my Xbox 360 through it so I do not have to buy one of those really expensive wireless cards that Microsoft sells. No wireless card should cost $99.00 not even for the Xbox 360.
Finally this weekend my mom comes over and wants her laptop “updated”. Her laptop is kind of old so I am not sure how much updating I can do. But I will give it the old college try, and if it does not work then oh well she should just get a new one. Laptops are pretty inexpensive at MicroCenter, and they are good quality. It is where I get all of my computer stuff from and they have laptops there for less than $400.00.
Then there was this weekend with a birthday party for my step-daughter. You know when people come to your house it is always hectic because they seem to be really “needy”. It was a lot of fun for the kids and it was a pretty good turnout. Of course every time my sister comes over there is always something wrong with our house or something that she tries to belittle us about. Oh well I am used to it she has been doing it for years. I just let it roll off of my shoulders now for the most part anyway.
So that was my laundry list of crap that I have to get done this week. Plus I have to be the stay-at-home dad, study for my college classes, pay attention to the wife, kids and the dogs. So as you see I am pretty busy. Anyone who thinks that when you stay home that you don’t have things to do then you are pretty crazy. With me starting to write on this blog again I barely have time to watch television. Speaking of this blog, I need to take some time to fix this template that I have on it now. It looks real nice clean however most of the data is not mine. It is what came with the template so I need to modify it the way I want it to look. We all know this is a pretty easy task if you have been in the blogging game for any length of time. Although I think I will survive not seeing anything on the old boob tube. Maybe I should turn TV off forever I mean it’s not like there is anything to watch on the 500 channels I have now anyway.
